Let’s
contrast how civilized people deal with dislike of one another, and how
senators bully to get their way.
Vitaliano Aguirre, Corona prosecutor, covered his ears
while being lectured by Miriam Santiago, and may be cited for contempt.
BSP examiner (whatever that is) Jerry Leal supposedly
lied about not being involved in the leak of Corona’s private bank documents,
and Enrile tells the media that he may be locked up at the Senate “para matuto
siya.”
Now I think the whole demolition job against Corona is
BS, and everyone involved in it should be burned alive (or at least, relieved
of political power). But it’s just as infuriating to watch the Senate strutting
around all high and mighty ready to dish out what they believe to be authority
mandated by the people.
MEANWHILE, HOW DO HUMAN BEINGS INTERACT?
Let’s say you own a club, and a customer gets quite rowdy.
You throw him out of the club, not “para matuto siya” but because it’s bad
business to have jerks around your property.
You’re not
going to pick some unwilling guy up from the street, have them enter your
premises, and proceed to beat them up if they don’t do as you want.
No, such unjustifiable behavior (e.g. subpoena-then-cite-for-contempt) is the forte
of politicians.
