A QUICKIE ON SAYING ‘NO’ TO BAILOUTS

Citibank was reportedly the latest beneficiary of the US government. And a trillion-dollar package is on its way. Goes to show that the $700-billion package passed by Congress was for show, an attempt to divert or spread the accountability in case things go wrong (they certainly have not gone right).

In response to continued requests for explaining the opposition to bailouts, I’ve come up with a ‘quickie’ list of the factors involved and the whys of what I support and dispute.

O-B.S.

After accomplishing something that at the time seemed so daunting, you may have looked back and thought, “It wasn’t that hard after all. It wasn’t that big a deal after all.”

In light of the above, Obama’s victory supposedly breaking barriers frustrates me to no end. If Americans had really gotten over whatever racial hangups they had, why are people defining this election by race? Why are people still making a big deal out of it?

DEPRESSING

I expected as much, but when it happened, it nonetheless hurt me. It didn’t help that people around me and connected to me online rejoiced and asked if I had heard the speech. It was like doomsday to hear that orator’s voice from the TV in the other room. I was so moved to tears that I had to shut the glass door with my elbows.
